A Reflective Journey Through SCH Site Services in 2023

Reflecting on the journey through 2023 at SCH Site Services reveals a dynamic narrative filled with triumphs, challenges, and moments that defined our commitment to excellence. As we look back on the diverse landscape of projects, achievements, and team highlights, the essence of SCH's year unfolds.

The year kicked off with a proud moment for SCH Site Services, as our association with the Newcastle United Executive Club earned us a coveted spot on the StatZone after the match with Leicester City. The cheers echoed not just for the team but also for SCH, showcasing our commitment to football and community engagement.

One of the standout projects that etched its mark on our journey was at The Locomotion Museum in Shildon. Tasked with designing and constructing a new storage unit, we showcased its prowess in delivering tailored solutions.

Beyond the construction site, our commitment to environmental responsibility came to the forefront. We strategically targeted local jobs, engaged local suppliers, and actively contributed to the local job market, reinforcing our dedication to community development.

However, our commitment to community wasn't confined to economic contributions. It extended to our local workforce, where we tirelessly offered training to upskill our existing team.

Welcoming new apprentices into the SCH family underscored our commitment to nurturing the next generation of skilled fabricators.

Their proactive approach to pursuing NVQs exemplifies our vision for a skilled and empowered workforce. This dedication wasn't restricted to the workplace; it radiated into the community as we extended our support to local charities and sponsored grassroots sports teams.

Milestone projects became a hallmark of SCH's year. The Essity project, creating four buildings with a cumulative steel weight of 435te, showcased our ability to manage large-scale ventures with precision.

The collaboration with STRABAG on the Pre-Storage Area Building in Hartlepool and the Connoco Philips project in Middlesbrough further underscored our capacity to design and construct with finesse.

Investing in our workforce remained at the forefront of our initiatives. Our commitment to training isn’t just a checkbox exercise; it’s a philosophy ingrained in our culture.

Initiatives like Mental Health Awareness, First Aid Training, and NEBOSH National qualifications ensured that our team not only possessed technical expertise but was also equipped to navigate the complexities of our industry.

Tyrone, an unexpected stowaway, brought a touch of charm to our SCH family. A tortoise might not be a traditional visitor, but his camaraderie with Elliott formed a unique and heartwarming friendship!

Welcoming new faces and roles added layers to our story this year. Lise, our new finance manager, seamlessly integrated into our operations, bringing her expertise to enhance our financial management.

Kay, in her role as contracts assistant, quickly became an indispensable part of the team, ensuring the smooth flow of our contractual processes.

Certifications and facility enhancements marked significant milestones in our journey. Renewing our ISO9001 certification demonstrated our commitment to maintaining the highest quality standards.

Repurposing 10,000 square feet of warehousing space was more than an infrastructural change; it was a strategic move to bolster our paint facility, offering an expanded range of coatings for steel.

Individual achievements were celebrated often. Elliott's completion of his NVQ Level 6 Black Card in Construction, Contracting, and Operations Management was a testament to our commitment to continuous learning and growth.

In the summer, Gary was lucky enough to get tickets for the Sam Fender concert at the Newcastle home ground and bumped into the co-owner of Newcastle United. Being members of the Newcastle Executive Club, Gary was overjoyed to be able to sit and chat!

Community outreach and fundraising were not just corporate responsibilities but reflections of our values. Supporting the Mark Solan charity through various events demonstrated our commitment to a worthy cause that cares for cancer patients and their families.

Our bake sale which raised funds for the local food bank was also an expression of our community values.

The SCH team's eventful trip to London, culminating in an unexpected biking adventure through the city with SCH safety gear, was a testament to our ability to find joy in the unexpected. Such moments reflected the resilience, adaptability, and camaraderie that define our team!

Having canine companions, Teddy and Spud, in the SCH offices provided moments of playfulness! We also celebrated many birthdays and workiversaries this year.

The introduction of the clean van award emphasised the importance of maintaining our vehicle fleet, adding a touch of competition and recognition to our workplace culture.

The SCH family expanded with the addition of Vanessza and Paul. Their unique backgrounds and experiences brought fresh perspectives, contributing to the collaborative ethos that defines SCH Site Services.

Gary and Andy's encounter with Nolberto Solano at the Eleven Sports Media and Newcastle United Executive Club event was a fitting finale to our year. Being partners of the Newcastle United Executive Club provided opportunities to connect with football legends, adding a touch of excitement to our corporate affiliations.

As we draw the curtain on a transformative year, we extend heartfelt gratitude to the entire SCH workforce, our valued clients, and collaborators. Each individual, project, and experience contributed SCH's journey in 2023.
