Ahead of the rest - SCH secures "Plot C" steel work package at the new Aykley Heads development site

SCH Site Services have been awarded the structural steel work contract for the new "Plot C" office space development at County Hall for Durham County Council. The steel work is due to be erected early July this year.

The tender process was submitted strictly through the NEPO portal and all tenders were assessed based on the level of information provided, proof of competence and finally the price. Using their knowledge and expertise from working on previous projects within the Durham City area, SCH were able to put together the most competitive tender and successfully win the contract.

Talking about the Aykley Heads and Durham Bus Station projects, SCH Managing Director Gary Finley stated "We have kept a very close eye on the progress of the two projects which are happening in Durham city this year with Durham County Council. We are very happy to be awarded one and we are very hopeful of winning the next".

The first phase will see the creation of 3500 m2 of flexible space within a three story building. The funding has been provided by both the Council and the governments "Getting Building Fund" which aims to deliver jobs, skills and infrastructure across the country.

The scope of work includes the design of end connections, supply and installation of the steel frame and Metal Decking

Gary added "This will be the 9th project SCH has delivered within a 2 mile radius of Durham city centre over the past 5 years and we are very hopeful of a 10th".
