SCH Site Services has been awarded the structural steel work package on Gibside School. Wates Construction are the Main Contractor building the new SEN school in Gateshead as part of the SCAPE framework. The project began on site late 2019 with steel work going to site at the end of February 2020. The new build will house 170 pupils replacing the old school which is cited four miles away.
SCH were asked by Wates to provide something special on this project that other steel work contractors were not providing on other projects.
So what does make us different?
We took the opportunity to incorporate our new lifting device into our fabricated steel. It provides positive lifting to hollow sections which is not currently available on the market. The new device complements the already tried and tested positive lifting of section steels. Not only will the device ensure all steel members are lifted safely, it will also speed up the erection process reducing time and cost for all steel work projects in the future for all steel erection companies.
Operation Director and creator of the new lifting device Andy Braid said "Once we have completed all of the preparation and the device is ready for the market, we believe that this new product will be a game changer in the industry".
SCH have been leaders in the market for several years. We believe that we were the first structural steel work contractor to pre-strop bundles of steel reducing the time taken to unload a wagon to less than an hour. This method also ensures that there is no requirement to access the trailers during the off loading process eliminating working at height for our operatives.
SCH, continually striving forward in safety.
SCH are a structural steel work Contractor supplying a superior standard of primary and secondary steel work to the construction industry.
