SeAH Wind, Teesworks
Steel Foundations for a Greener Future

A Greener Future
SCH Site Services was proud to play a pivotal role in one of the most ambitious renewable energy developments in the UK, the SeAH Wind monopile manufacturing facility, located at the heart of the Teesworks site in the South Bank of Teesside.
Led by SeAH Wind Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of SeAH Steel Holdings Corporation, this landmark facility broke ground in July 2022 and is set to become the largest bespoke monopile manufacturing plant in the world. Once operational, it will deliver a full end-to-end fabrication process for XXXL monopiles, enormous steel foundations that will power the next generation of offshore wind turbines across the globe.
SCH’s Contribution to a Global First
Partnering with Rainton Construction, SCH Site Services was entrusted with supporting the groundslab phase of the project, supplying and installing approximately 800 tonnes of structural steelwork that formed the foundation of this vast facility.
Over an 18-month period, our teams were embedded full time on site, delivering:
The fabrication and erection of large-scale structural beams
Extensive site welding with high levels of precision
Supply and operation of mobile cranes
Ongoing coordination and logistics across a complex and evolving site
This was no ordinary steel job, it was an opportunity to help shape a project of international importance, with SCH playing a key role in laying the physical and symbolic groundwork for a cleaner, greener future.
About the SeAH Wind Facility
Once complete, the SeAH Wind factory will span:
90 acres of Teesworks land
A main building stretching 810 metres in length, 200 metres in width, and standing 40 metres high
Production capabilities for monopiles measuring up to 15.5 metres in diameter, 120 metres in length, and weighing up to 3,500 metric tonnes
This development is not only a world first in scale, it’s also a major boost for the UK economy, creating up to 750 permanent jobs and 1,500 indirect roles during construction. The facility will connect directly to Teesworks’ deep-water quay, enabling the efficient export of these huge monopiles to wind farms across the globe.
With its emphasis on renewable energy, local employment, and engineering excellence, the SeAH project aligns closely with SCH’s own values: building with purpose, precision, and pride.
AT SCH, WE PROVIDE A PROFESSIONAL AND FRIENDLY SERVICE, WORKING WITH YOU FROM THE START TO FINISH OF YOUR PROJECT.
