Redcar Culture & Leisure Hub
Delivering the structural steel behind Redcar’s new Culture & Leisure Hub — a landmark project at the heart of the town’s £25m regeneration.

SCH Site Services has delivered the structural steel package for the new Culture and Leisure Hub in Redcar, working alongside Robertson Construction as part of the town’s £25 million Town Deal regeneration programme.
This landmark development sits at the heart of Redcar’s plans to reshape the town centre, bringing forward a modern leisure and cultural anchor attraction designed to increase footfall, strengthen the local economy and create a destination for residents and visitors alike.
The building has been designed to provide flexible, high-quality space capable of supporting a wide range of leisure, community and cultural uses, ensuring long-term value beyond the initial construction phase.
Phase 1 – Leisure & Anchor Building
Phase 1 comprised the main leisure and anchor building structure. SCH was responsible for the fabrication and erection of the structural steel framework forming the backbone of the development.
Delivering steelwork on a coastal site brings its own considerations. Working by the seafront means exposure to changeable and often blustery conditions, something that required careful planning, sequencing and coordination with the wider project team to maintain programme and safety standards throughout installation.
The steel frame established the structural form of the building, creating the primary support system for floors, roof structures and internal layouts. Close collaboration with the principal contractor ensured efficient integration with follow-on trades and services as the scheme progressed.
Phase 2 – Final Steel Package
Phase 2 marked the completion of SCH’s steel package on the project. This stage involved the fabrication of the remaining structural elements, ensuring continuity with the previously erected framework and alignment with the overall construction timeline.
We carried out the fabrication under strict quality control procedures, with full material traceability maintained throughout production.
With Phase 2 now fabricated and advancing through finishing processes, SCH’s involvement in the structural steel package for the Culture and Leisure Hub is nearing completion.
The completed hub will stand as a permanent addition to Redcar’s town centre, a practical investment in leisure, culture and community infrastructure that supports long-term regeneration. For SCH, the project represents another significant coastal development delivered through strong coordination, technical precision and a commitment to programme certainty.
